Willie McCovey collected 3 hits including a first inning two run homerun off Clay Kirby to lead the Giants to a series opening victory. South paw Ray Sadecki earned the win while Clay Kirby got hung with the loss. Giants 7....Padres 4.


Game 2,

San Diego crushed three homeruns including a game winning 2 run pinch hit bomb by Nate Colbert.  Jack Baldschun won the game while Tommie Sisk earned the save. The loss went to Frank Linzy in relief. Padres 9...Giants 7.

Game 3,

The final game took 13 frames to decide when San Francisco plated two runs in the top of the inning off several Padre relievers.  Giant second sacker collected 3 hits in the victory. Frank Linzy evens his record at 1-1 with the relief win. The loss was hung on Padre hurler Tommie Dukes. Giants 4...Padres 2 (13 innings)
