Expos take rubber game
Montreal, May 1, 1969: Mack Jones continues his hot hitting going 2 for 2 with 2 runs and 2 RBI as the Expos took the series finale over the Mets 9-4. Jones reached base five times as he walked the other 3 times he was at the plate. Donn Clendenon's bat continues to show life as he went 2 for 5 with 2 runs, 3 RBI and hit his second home run of the series. Third sacker Coco Laboy added 3 hits to the Montreal attack.
Montreal received another solid performance from their starting pitcher as Bill Stoneman (1-3) went seven strong innings to pick up his first win of the season. The righthander allowed only 6 hits and 1 run, with 8 strikeouts while allowing only 1 walk. Don Cardwell (1-2) struggled with his control walking 6 in 5 innings.
