May 14, 1969 Montreal: Houston shortstop Dennis Menke leadoff the second inning with a solo shot and the Astros never looked back. Houston added three more in the inning and cruise to a 9-2 win. Menke finished the day 2 for 3 with the HR and 3 runs scored. Houston catcher Johnny Edwards went 3 for 4 with a triple and 3 RBI.
Denny Lemaster (2-4) went the distance for Houston allowing only three hits and two runs while walking four and striking out seven Montreal batters. Only a 9th inning Mack Jones two run homer prevented the shutout. Expo starter Mudcat Grant (2-4) allowed five runs in his five innings of work.
