Deron Johnson Powers Philly Past Braves

GAME ONE – Milt Pappas (3-3) homered to help himself as Atlanta won 5-3. Bob Tillman (5) and Clete Boyer (5) also went deep for the Braves. Dick Allen swatted his 12th of the year for the Phillies.

GAME TWO – Deron Johnson’s (5) 3-run bomb in the 8th lifted Philadelphia to a 6-4 victory. Cecil Upshaw (0-2) suffered his 2nd blown save. Larry Hisle (7,8), hitting in the 8th hole, smacked solo HRs in the 3rd and 8th. Rick Wise (5-2) got the mound win.


GAME THREE – Deron Johnson (6) took Upshaw (0-3) over the wall again as the Phillies win 3-2 in 13 innings. Gary Wagner (1-4) was the beneficiary on the hill for the Phils.
