Senators Filibuster Yankees At All-Star Break

GAME ONE – Del Unser tripled in a pair of runs in the 6th inning to power a 4-run inning and a 6-5 win for Washington in the opener of this series. Mike Epstein (17) contributed a 2-run tater in the 4th inning for the Senators.

GAME TWO – Senators out hit the Bombers 9-3, but it doesn’t translate to the scoreboard as New York wins the DH opener, 2-0. Mel Stottlemyre (13-6) blanks the visitors over 9.  

GAME THREE – Mike Epstein’s (18) 2-run blast in the T9 lifted Washington to a 5-3 win and a DH split. Epstein’s blast followed Bobby Murcer’s (19) 2-run blast in the B8 to tie the game at 3-3. Joe Coleman (8-5) notched the complete-game win for the Sens.


GAME FOUR – Roy White doubled twice and drove in 3 runs as the Yankees even the series with an 8-3 win. Bill Burbach (7-8) surrendered just 1 earned run over 7 innings for the W.
