Halos and Pale Hose Split After July 4

GAME ONE Independence Day DH in ChiTown and the Angels Jim McGlothlin (8-5) celebrates with a complete game. He scatters five White Sox hits and walks away with a 5-2 win in the lid lifter. Jim Spencer (3) went to deep for California. Carlos May set off the CF scoreboard fireworks for the home club.

GAME TWO – Joel Horlen (4-7) returns the favor as the White Sox split the July 4th DH with an 8-1 victory. Horlen allowed just 2 hits over the 9 innings. Ken Berry had 3 of the ChiSox 14 hits and scored 3 runs. Walt Williams batted in 3.

GAME THREE – Catcher Don Pavletich drove in 4 runs with 3 hits. Luis Aparicio scored 4 runs with 3 hits. Carlos May (16) and Bill Melton (14) went yard as the White Sox won 8-4. Bubba Morton had 3 RBI for the Halos. Jay Johnstone had 3 safeties. Billy Wynne (2-1) notched the CG win for the Pale Hose.


GAME FOUR – California splits the series with a 4-2 win in the finale. Johnstone cracked a 2-run homer in the 1st as the Angels put 3 on the board. Spencer (4) knocked a solo shot in the 4th. Tom Murphy (9-6) earned the win on the bump with assistance from Ken Tatum (8). Tommy John (5-9) started and lost for the Pale Hose.
